Initiative for nurses to spend more time with patients at Worthing Hospital

A NEW initiative designed to free-up nurses to spend more time with their patients has been launched at Worthing and Southlands Hospitals.Last May the Department of Health invited Trusts to take part in the 'Productive Ward Programme'.

The aim of the programme is to empower nurses to look at the organisation of their wards and make changes that would allow them to spend more time on direct patient care, improving safety and the patient experience.

Fiona Keeling, a senior nurse at the Trust, was seconded to the post of project manager and has piloted the project on two wards '“ Coral at Southlands Hospital and Broadwater at Worthing Hospital.
