Injured motorcyclist, 37, was ‘conscious’ after A27 crash

A 37-year-old man who came off his motorbike and crashed into a road sign on a Chichester suffered serious injuries but remained conscious as paramedics treated him at the scene.

The man sustained ‘serious injuries to his pelvis and legs’ as a result of a collision with an Audi on the Portfield Roundabout this morning.

Though he was badly hurt his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, according to the ambulance service.

A spokesperson for the South East Coast Ambulance Service said: “SECAMB was called just before 8am today (Wednesday, December 23) to Portfield Way to reports of a collision between a motorbike and car.

“We dispatched two ambulance crews and a single responder vehicle.

“The motorcyclist, a 37 year old man, had been knocked off the motorbike into a road sign and sustained serious injuries to pelvis and legs but he was conscious.

“He was treated at the scene by a critical care paramedic and was taken fully immobilised to the Royal Sussex County Hospital for further care.”

Part of the A27 and surrounding roads were closed for over three hours before reopening at 10.45am following collision investigations.
