Injured soldier tells prince: "I'm lucky to be alive"

A LITTLEHAMPTON soldier injured in an explosion in Afghanistan told Prince Charles he felt lucky to be alive.

Senior aircraftman Mike Goody was trapped under the vehicle he was driving for three hours following the blast in Kandahar in October.

The 23-year-old was flown to the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine at Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham, where he has been receiving treatment for a foot injury for the last six weeks.

He chatted with Prince Charles as he paid a visit to the centre last Tuesday to meet injured soldiers and the staff who treat them.
