Inquest into deaths of Shoreham Airshow crash victims opens today

The 11 people who died as a result of the Shoreham Airshow disaster will be formally identified when the inquest into their deaths opens this morning.

One victim who has not yet been named will be identified during the hearing at Parkside, Horsham, which commences at 10.30am this morning (Wednesday September 2).

The families of the deceased have been invited to the opening of the inquiry by West Sussex senior coroner Penelope Schofield.

Sussex Police has confirmed the deaths of nine of the 11 victims, while another person is believed to have died.

The 11 includes window cleaner Mark Trussler, 54, from Worthing, and cyclists and friends Dylan Archer, 42, from Brighton, and Richard Smith, 26, from Hove.

NHS manager Tony Brightwell, 53, from Hove, grandfather Mark Reeves, 53, from Seaford, and Worthing United footballers Matthew Grimstone and Jacob Schilt, both 23, also died.

Personal trainer Matt Jones, 24 and wedding chauffeur Maurice Abrahams, 76, have also been identified, while Worthing dad Daniele Polito is believed to have died.
