The Rye Observer leads on the story of a pub which says it has lost passing trade and around £1,000 a week due to road closures which have cut off one side of the village from the other.

Other news includes £1,100 worth of fireworks stolen from a storage unit in Rye and champion clay pigeon shooter George Digweed says his life has been changed forever following a violent burglary at his Northiam home.

The Battle Observer leads on a brave labourer who has been hailed a hero after pulling one man from a blazing car and helping save another after it crashed into a ditch earlier this week.

Other news includes the tragic incident which saw a Battle man lose his life after a crash on the B2096 between Dallington and Netherfield, a community’s bid to get a neglected phone box done up in time for the 1066 anniversary weekend and a teenager who fantasised about becoming a notorious killer being convicted of making threats to kill schoolchildren in Robertsbridge.
