In Battle, the magnificent statue on the roundabout at the top of High Street to mark the 950th anniversary of 1066 will be unveiled today.

The sculpture, designed by Guy Portelli, depicts a Saxon soldier and a Norman fighter on horseback.

Other stories include the campaign to bring back the tourist information point to Battle, a preview of tomorrow’s Rye Bonfire Night, and a house daubed in paint by vandals.

We have a fantastic spread of pictures from Battle’s November 5 celebrations, plus the usual Village Voices and you can vote for your favourite local in our Pub of Year contest, which has been whittled down to the top 10.
