Inspector Slams Harbour Blunders

CAMPAIGNERS who fought in vain against controversial redevelopment plans for Littlehampton harbour were backed this week by a Government planning inspector.

Alan Foster, who conducted last year's 52-day public inquiry into Arun's planning blueprint for the next decade, said he had sympathies with objectors' claims that the redevelopment had not adequately protected river-related businesses.

The criticism of Arun's approach to the harbour is one of the major findings of Mr Foster's report on the inquiry into Arun's far-reaching local plan.
