A speaker was filled with lentils and cornflour, and a metal slinky, were used to demonstrate how sound waves travel through the air.

Students were keen to volunteer to take part in the interactive elements of the show.

Gill Woodman, careers coordinator, said: “This was an excellent morning, students really enjoyed taking part and they seemed to pick up some new skills! FCC has been involved with a lot of the events organised within the campaign to promote the STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) subjects and it is great to show students just what careers are out there and how interesting these curriculum subjects can be.”

Jessica Juniper, Mae Fairbairn, and Reuben Lyall, all Year Nine students, said: “It was really good. The nose trick with the robot was great and the goo at the end. It definitely makes you see science in an interesting and fun way.”
