International Women’s Day marked at Newhaven Fort

AN INSIGHT into life as an 18-year-old radio telephone operator in 1942 will help mark International Women’s Day at Newhaven Fort.

The illustrated presentation will include original notes, diaries, photos and sketches on Tuesday March 8.

The lecture coincides with a newly published book covering the life of the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF) during WWII by author Sue Edwards.

Signed copies of the book will be available to buy on the day and there will be a question and answer session following the talk.

The author will be accompanied by former WAAF girl Daphne, who is the subject of the book.

The talk is free of charge and included in the cost of admission at the Fort Road tourist attraction.

However spaces are limited so call Newhaven Fort on 01273 517622 to book.
