Interschools charity football tournament

THE annual Oliver Curd Tournament was held last Thursday (April 26) at Peasmarsh School. Teams of children from Years Five and Six, from Rye Primary, Brede, Icklesham, Winchelsea, Peasmarsh, and Playden took part.

Playden beat Winchelsea in the final of the football tournament organised by Rachel Saxby, Year Five and Six teacher at Peasmarsh school, finishing 3-1 on penalties.

Cakes were sold at the event, and raised £26 for the Oliver Curd Trust.

The charity was set up in memory of Oliver Curd, who lost his fight with bone cancer in 2007.

It aims to provide holidays for families with children suffering from life-threatening illnesses.

Oliver’s brother Joe was playing for Peasmarsh, who won one game and lost their second.
