It doesn't grow on trees

Money doesn't grow on trees, Felpham's councillors have told Arun District Council.

They have rejected plans for a community orchard at Old Rectory Gardens. The district council wanted to develop the open space into a story-telling area with appropriate seating and the orchard.

But the cost of 5,000 was too much for the parish council. Cllr Connie Reid and the parish clerk, Richard Wickens, told Arun 2,500 had been set aside for the work.

They asked the district council to devise alternative proposals after it declined to make up the shortfall.
