It's a clean sweep as Scouts tackle Bognor's beach

Scouts used their community week to clean up Bognor Regis beach.

About 80 members of 1st Felpham Air Scouts, 2nd Bognor Sea Scouts and 1st South Bersted Air Scouts and their leaders scoured the seafront.

They were joined by organisers, Arun District Council street scene co-ordinator Dan Cox and senior community parks officer Dee Christensen for the two-hour evening session. The Friends of West Park supported the event.

The clean-up started at opposite ends of the seafront, cleaning West Park and Longbrook Park, before litter-picking along the beach and ending at the Regis Centre.

One of those involved, Ben Sheils, of 1st South Bersted Cubs, said: “I didn’t expect to enjoy litter-picking. However, I really enjoyed the day and had great fun.”

Mr Cox said: “It was great to see so many children getting involved in the beach clean, giving up their time to help clean up the environment.”
