It's Felpham flower power

Flowers take centre stage in Felpham again from tomorrow (Friday, July 18).

The village's regular open gardens weekend and flower festival gets under way.

The first of the events to open will be the festival inside St Mary's Church.

Its theme is conservation and its title is Reuse, Reduce and Recycle. The arrangements will all depict various areas of conservation.

Children from Bishop Tufnell CoE Infant School are arranging the pew ends.

The festival can be visited from tomorrow morning until Sunday afternoon.

Saturday and Sunday will also see 26 gardens around the village opened to visitors.

The total includes eight new plots. Those which people will be able to see around include Joan Winson's of Ley Road with its yucca and bottle brush tree looking splendid. She will also be hosting her annual sale for the Missions to Seafarers.

Colin Lankester will be showing off his pink garden in Second Avenue packed with hydrangeas.

The variety available for viewing is also shown by the large expanse of Dr Andrew Foulkes's garden, including pond, in Hoe Lane.

The proceeds of the three days will be divided between Flansham Park Health Centre, Middleton Medical Centre and St Mary's Church.
