It's that million pound feeling!

THE magical one million pound mark has been reached by Shoreham Royal Air Force Association through years of fund-raising.

A 1million cheque was presented by Shoreham Air Show founder and organiser Don Bean to Air Marshal Philip Sturley, president of RAFA at Shoreham Airport on Tuesday.

It is 17 years since the first fete as it was known was held at Shoreham Airport where 1,300 was raised for RAFA's wings appeal before it grew into the two-day Shoreham Air Show. This year's raised the most ever - 133,000 to reach the 1million target.

Air Marshal Sturley said: "Shoreham is my favourite air show because it is a family orientated day.

"We still have a million people out there who are ex-RAF and need our help. To raise 1million is an amazing feat and one show raising 133,000 was a record amount for one branch - so we thank Shoreham."
