Jamie's Wish family fun day in Littlehampton

Having battled on through horrendous rain last year, the dedicated volunteers had the opposite on Saturday, when the sun shone all day at Linden Park in Littlehampton.

The fun day is now in its 12th year, raising money for the Littlehampton-based charity, which puts together Wish Boxes for young people living with cancer.

Supporters were working from early in the morning, putting together a range of stalls and activities for the fun day.

Charity administrator Sue Allen said: "We were delighted with our event on Saturday. It was lovely to see people enjoying themselves in the sunshine and supporting Jamie's Wish.

"We have received amazing feedback from local residents as well as families that travelled from further afield.

"The number of applications we receive for Wish Boxes is ever increasing and the £4,306.11 raised at the fun day will go towards gifts for those young cancer patients."

Highlights of the day included the tug of war, bingo and entertainment from Sussex Tornados Cheerleaders, A.Stars Parties and Events, Littlehampton Sea Cadets, children's entertainer Nick Cook, and the young DJs from DreamCatcher Productions.

Guile's Reptiles raised £182.92 in donations and the Rapid Relief Team provided catering, which raised £725.

Lila Heasman, six months, was the overall winner of the baby competition, much to the delight of mum Amy Phillips.

Yasmin Jones' daughter Iyla-May, aged three weeks and five days, was best girl in the baby competition and Andy Jelley's son Alfie, eight weeks, was best boy.

In the pet show, Michelle Lifford was delighted with her cockerpoo Buster winning a prize.
