Jazz fest gets Rye swinging
RYE International Festival brought colour, music and vibrant sounds to the town over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Highlights included a performance by Ginger Baker’s Jazz Confusion and rising young pianist Anthony Strong.
Many concerts sold out well in advance but there was still plenty for people to enjoy with free jazz sessions at the Buttermarket, the Ypres Castle garden and the courtyard of the George.
Music ranged from Brazilian Samba to Classic Jazz. Blues and Gospel.
Organisers have now promised that the festival will become an annual event in Rye over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
