Jazz Mastersperform inthe Old Town

Jazz Hastings have lined up another great event for Tuesday May 5 when The Liam Noble Trio with Geoff Simkins perform.

The line-up features Liam Noble: piano; Geoff Simkins: alto sax; Dave Whitford: bass

and Dave Wickens on Drums.

After studying music at Oxford University and the Guildhall, Liam Noble became the regular pianist with Stan Sulzmann. He went on to work with Anita Wardell, Harry Beckett, Tim Whitehead, John Stevens, John Taylor, Kenny Wheeler and Lol Coxhill.

Geoff Simkins’ first instrument was drums, but he quickly changed to the alto saxophone. His principal stylistic influences have been the American alto player Lee Konitz and tenor player Warne Marsh.

Dave Whitford has just recently joined the trio of ex Sting and Wayne Shorter alumnus Jason Rebelo and is also a regular member of the Bobby Wellins Quartet.

Dave Wickins, who originally studied with Philly Joe Jones, works with Liam Noble, Harry Beckett and Bobby Wellins amongst many others. He also runs the Glamorgan jazz summer school, now relocated to Trinity College of Music in London.
