Jewellery raid police re-bail Hawkhurst man

A Kent man, arrested in connection with a raid on a Battle jewellers, has been re-bailed by police.

The 21-year-old, from Hawkhurst, was arrested shortly after the incident at Friar House Antique Jewellery, in the High Street, on Friday September 17.

The man answered bail last Sunday, but has been re-bailed to return to Hastings Police Station on October 24.

Last week William Smith, 30, of Tenterden Road, Golford, Kent, was charged with burglary with intent to steal and attempted burglary

He entered no plea when he appeared before Hastings Magistrates Court and was remanded in custody.

He will appear at Lewes Crown Court on December 10.
