He hopes to have raised around 200 in sponsorship for the Anthony Nolan Trust, which raises funds for research into leukaemia and other bone marrow related diseases.

Joining Jimmy on the sponsored bike ride was support worker Matthew Haxicon, while around 200 other cyclists also took part in the event.

This is the second year running that Jimmy, who has learning disabilities, has taken part in the bike ride. It was organised by the charity as one of 50 sponsored cycling events across the UK and overseas.

Sue Gales is manager of the Harison Road home where Jimmy lives with other residents. She said: 'Jimmy is a very keen cyclist and likes to put the pedal power to good use by raising money for a good cause. We're all delighted he did so well.'

Jimmy's home is run by Southdown Housing Association, which provides housing support and services for those with learning or mental health disabilities, or special needs.
