A NEW Tesco Express store opening in Felpham received over 1,000 applications for just 14 new jobs '“ that is over 71 applications per vacancy.
Tesco recruited staff from the local area to work in the new store, and relied on word of mouth and advertisements at other local Tesco stores to recruit staff for the new store.
Store Manager Ali Ayube said: “I was overwhelmed by the huge response we received to our recruitment drive. In this time of economic uncertainty, it is great that we are able to create jobs and help get people back into work.
The store celebrated its launch on Monday, when representatives from Age UK West Sussex were the guests of honour.
