The store on Wick Street is one of 36 others in the company’s food branch which have been sold to The Food Retailer Group for an undisclosed sum.

It was previously a Somerfield store before being taken over in 2008.

A spokesperson for the Co-op said: “An important consideration for us was that colleagues would have continued employment as a result of this sale, and this agreement ensures that colleagues will continue in their jobs and have their terms and conditions maintained post-sale. The decision to sell the store is in no way a reflection on the hard work from our 15 colleagues at the store.”
