Jobs axe to fall on 650-plus at Glaxo

PHARMACEUTICAL giant GlaxoSmithKline will axe more than 650 jobs as it looks to close its Crawley site by the end of 2011.

The company said the decision to close the manufacturing plant was down to 'declining volumes, regulatory delays and patent expiries'.

It said last week that 493 jobs would go in addition to the 160 job losses previously announced.
