We’re teaming up with Guild Care to support the charity’s new appeal with a wrap around each of our papers.

More than 100 guests gathered for the official launch of Guild Care’s public fundraising appeal for a new care home and dementia wellbeing centre.

The charity has secured the majority of the £7m needed to build the 60-bedroom home, but is appealing for the public’s help to raise the final £500,000.

Lord Lieutenant of West Sussex Susan Pyper, the Duchess of Norfolk, and East Worthing and Shoreham MP Tim Loughton were among the guests on Thursday.

Mrs Pyper said: ‘I have personally and professionally been involved in healthcare, mental illness and dementia over many, many years and Guild Care’s ‘Home to Remember’ will make a real difference to the quality of dementia care in West Sussex.

“I would ask the local community to support the appeal in any way they can and help us care for people with dementia when they need us most.”

The new home will be built at Northbrook, after planning permission was secured this week.

Mr Loughton added: “Guild Care has played a special role in the life of Worthing, and this is a really crucial appeal.”
