Journalism course at City College Brighton and Hove has been saved

A highly-regarded journalism course at City College Brighton and Hove has been saved. Negotiations between unions and management mean that the one-year course - recognised by the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) - will continue in September. Two fast-track courses, however, will end. And staff fear that they will, in effect, still be made redundant. The courses are among those being axed because of the college's financial crisis, which has seen staff and students protesting about "financial mismanagement" and calling for the resignation of Colin Henderson, the former financial director who has been promoted to deputy chief executive.
