Joy for Fairlight youngsters as Activate Club gains major cash award

THESE youngsters from Fairlight’s Activate Youth Club have plenty to celebrate after the Club fought off stiff competition to get the public’s vote for a £5,000 cash award from Lloyds Bank Community Group.

Wendy Hatch, from Activate, said: “Activate Youth Club were thrilled to receive £5,000 after our success in coming second in the area for this award. “Thanks must go to everybody who voted for us and thanks to all who always support us so well.

“With almost 20 volunteers who come and help at club nights or on the management team the club continues to provide a brilliant facility for local youngsters.

“This award will help us improve the clubhouse including a new kitchen.

The group was set up by Wendy way back in 1998.

She said: “It is wonderful the community have rallied round us like this. The kids who use the Club really respect it and we want to give it a bit of a facelift.”
