In blazing sun, Raystede Summer Fair saw record numbers of supporters coming for a fun family day out, while providing much needed funds to help the animals.
The fair took over £23,000, the first time it has exceeded the £20k mark and will make a big contribution to the work of the centre.
Raystede was also delighted to welcome designer and TV presenter Linda Barker to open the fair.
Linda said: “It was my absolute pleasure to be able to support Raystede. I loved hearing about the good work they have been doing for all the animals. Many of the rescue stories touched me quite profoundly. I have such admiration for the level of care and support for the animals that find their way to the centre.”
Raystede chief executive Nigel Mason added: “I would like to thank the thousands of visitors that came to enjoy the fair. We are completely reliant on voluntary donations to help the animals in our care. It was great to see so many smiling faces and catch up with lots of ex Raystede dogs looking happy and loved with their new families.”
On the day visitors enjoyed being able to learn more about the work that goes on at Raystede and meet many of the animals that live here in permanent sanctuary. The Southern Golden Retrievers Display Team was also a big hit, as was ‘the spider man’ who brought along his collection of giant tarantulas.
With a children’s funfair, band, BBQ and beer tent, there really was something for everyone to enjoy!
