He was initially arrested and charged after a fight broke out with others he shared a house with, on September 14 last year.

A 52-year-old man suffered several life-threatening stab wounds but has since recovered from his injuries.

Healey himself was also injured in the affray.

Detective Inspector Rob Walker, of Sussex Police, said the force accepted the jury’s decision.

DI Walker said: “The victim suffered serious stab wounds when it appears a drunken argument led to a fight in the house. Gareth Healey was also injured.

“We investigated and put the evidence before the court and accept the verdict of the jury.”
