Keane songwriter’s two year driving ban

KEANE musician Tim Rice-Oxley has been banned from driving for two years after he was caught drink driving.

Rice-Oxley, 38, of Milton Street, Polegate, was stopped by police on April 11, while driving a Land Rover Freelander on the A27.

He blew a reading of 101mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath – nearly three times over the legal limit of 35mcg.

He pleaded guilty when he appeared at Hastings Magistrates Court on July 9 and, as well as the ban, was fined £750, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £75 and costs of £85.

Last month Tim Rice-Oxley was revealed as the patron of the forthcoming Battle Arts & Music Festival.

Festival organisers have not commented on the incident, but have confirmed Tim Rice-Oxley will remain as patron for the October event.
