Kelz Kidz Partyz, a small Worthing based business that provides themed and seasonal parties for children, heard about the Superhero Day cash4kids fundraiser and decided to register.

Kelz Kids Partyz determined to involve other local businesses in the event by visiting them to collect funds. The team also decided to end the challenge at the Goring Conservative Club, where a raffle was held in support of the Superhero Day fundraiser. The Mayor of Worthing was invited to join.

The day started at 9.30am, stopping for 20 minutes for lunch, and finishing at 5pm. In that time Kelz Kidz Partyz flew around Findon Valley, Tarring, Goring, Durrington and the town centre, raising funds for Superhero Day.

Business owner Kelly, who plans and delivers the parties, said: “We wanted to try and hit 100 businesses in a day and we were only a few out as we ran out of time. We would have hit our target but we got caught up during the day, both times due to children. In the Guildbourne Centre a mum came running towards us saying she had lost her child. The child was found within minutes and was safe. The other delay wasn’t as dramatic - just spending some time with a little boy who loved Batman.”

Kelz Kidz Partyz found small businesses were happy to get involved in the event. £650 was raised through local businesses during the day and more than £100 was raised by the raffle and cake sale in the evening.

Kelly said: “It just goes to show, dedicating a day to spontaneously raising money for a good cause can make a difference. We are proud as a small local business in Worthing to be surrounded by so many other small local businesses that helped raise this amount. As a business myself I thought the best way is to offer an incentive and said to businesses any donation at all is appreciated but for a minimum of £10 we will take a picture of us outside your business to show your generosity and pop it on social media. Businesses loved this idea and especially ‘Ironing R Us’ in Tarring who called us over and invited us inside the shop to do a bit of ironing ourselves. We were really taken back by the generosity of Peak Boxing on Oxford Road, and ended up in the ring taking pictures after being overwhelmed by the donation. This one business alone donated £100 cash and a one to one boxing lesson for the Goring Conservative Club raffle, which was amazing. Matt Fiddes of Martial Arts Training also donated a three month membership.”
