Kent man arrested after Whatlington car fire

A man from Kent was arrested after a car crashed in John's Cross before catching fire in Whatlington on Sunday (March 21).

The 49-year-old from Hildenborough was arrested on suspicion of drink/drug driving after the incident on the A21 at around 8.05pm.

Police were called to the A21 at John’s Cross after a car travelling south was reported to have collided with a parked Audi cabriolet.

It was then reported that the car, a black Vauxhall Zafira, had caught fire further south at the A21’s junction with Stream Lane and Riccards Lane, Whatlington.

No injuries were reported.

The A21 was first closed, and then partially re-opened, until the scene was all clear by 11pm.
