Kerbside recycling to be stepped up

SO much newspaper has been collected since Rother council began is pilot kerbside recycling project that it has funded an expansion of the scheme.

Phase 1 of the scheme was launched on November 19 with boxes delivered to 10,000 Bexhill properties.

Rother says response to date has been encouraging with 50.9 tonnes collected.

"The success of this phase has resulted in Rother and its contractors having the capacity to expand Phase 1 to additional properties in Bexhill at no extra cost.

"Plans to implement Phase 2 are well under way. An order has been placed for a second collection vehicle - delivery is expected in February - plus an additional 10,000 boxes."
