Kind donation made to Farney Close School in Haywards Heath

The school has a 67 year history of helping boys and girls who have social, emotional and behavioural difficulties build their academic and social development to ensure they will have the best possible chance to be successful in society.

Fundraising coordinator at Farney Close Sue Horscroft said: “We have been fortunate enough to have had Mr Clive Gravett contact us about the Budding Foundation, a charity which he has recently set up and he has kindly donated money to our school for some horticultural work.

“The money that the Edwin Budding Foundation has given to the school will help us enormously with the landscaping of the Vocational Skills Centre and we would also like to say a big thank you from all of us at Farney Close School for taking the time to visit us.”

The school takes boys and girls aged 11–18 from across the south east of England and has ten outstanding education and social care inspection reports from Ofsted.

A spokesman for the Budding Foundation, a charity dedicated to inventor of the lawn mower Edwin Beard Budding, said it takes great pleasure in making its first donation to Farney Close School.

The charity aims to give children and young adults aged up to 21 years an opportunity to gain social and career skills by offering after school clubs and apprenticeships, focusing on people who have little support or opportunities.

It was set up with no funding in July last year but now needs as much as possible.
