Kind hearted Freya is named as'˜Outstanding' after random acts

Among her good deeds, Freya Gibbs, who lives in Churchill Avenue, collected blankets for the homeless, baked cakes for the emergency services, donated a nativity outfit to her teaching assistant at Castledown School and gave her pocket money to the Salvation Army.

Freya was inspired to make others happy after several sad events locally and internationally, including the Shoreham airshow disaster, the Paris shooting attacks and the devastation caused by Storm Desmond.

The Outstanding Young Person of the Month Award is sponsored by Sussex Coast College Hastings and the Hastings Observer Series.

Ashley Chapman, Marketing Projects Executive at Sussex Coast College Hastings, said: “We were really impressed when we heard about Freya’s 24 random acts of kindness, so there was no doubt that she deserved to be named as the Outstanding Young Person of the Month Award.

“I am sure she put a smile on so many people’s faces with her actions - even her neighbours benefited when she put candy canes on their cars.”

Sussex Coast College says it plays a key role in helping to inspire local youngsters to fulfil their ambitions.

The college is one of the largest suppliers of apprenticeships in the South East.

It says its success is due to our dedicated team who support both our apprentices and employers.

The college is also keen to strengthen its links with local employers and has revamped its services to employers.

Vice Principal, Dan Shelley said: “I want the college to be seen by business as a vital part of the formula for growth.

“ I am extending an open invitation to employers to help us direct our resources to meet their specific training needs.

“In some cases we will even be able to work with business partners to develop new accredited qualifications.”
