Officers said a man entered the store and threatened staff with a knife, before making off with a quantity of cash.

The offender ran from the shop in the direction of Dudley Road, police said.

The suspect is described as a short, skinny man in his early 20s with dark hair. He was wearing dark coloured clothing, had tights covering his face and was in possession of a black rucksack.

Detective Constable Tom Coll said: “Although the attacker’s face was covered, I’m hoping someone will be able to recognise the clothing and help identify him. During the attack, the offender threatened a female member of staff who was merely going about her work. This was clearly very frightening for staff at the shop and I would ask anyone with information to contact us.”

Anyone with any information is asked to report it online with the reference 1595 of 20/06, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
