‘Kreisleriana’ follows greatest impresario

“Kreisleriana” tells the story in music and words of perhaps the greatest violinist of all time – Fritz Kreisler - from his birth in Vienna in 1875 through his long colourful and controversial residence in America and world wide performances.

Pianist Helen Leek and violinist Gina Beukes perform the beautiful score, while narrator Thomas Stevenson relates some of the intriguing twists and turns of Kreisler’s life.

With one foot firmly in the Romantic era and the Viennese waltz running through his veins Kreisler’s gift for melody means that you will be familiar with many of his compositions, even if you are nor aware of it.

Helen Leek was a scholar and prize winner at the Royal Academy of Music. She subsequently studied with acclaimed Russian pianist Alexander Satz in Vienna. She was one of the major prize winners at the International Young Concert Artists Competition.

Gina started studying the violin at the age of five in South Africa. She has been leader of the Capetown Symphony Orchestra, principal second violin of the London Philharmonic Orchestra and is currently a member of the London Symphony Orchestra’s viola section.

This promises to be a unique and intriguing event.
