Labour candidate wants ‘fairer deal’ for tenants
Mr Deen said he is committed to giving private renters a fairer deal by bringing in three-year stable tenancies, ending excessive rent increases and banning ‘unfair’ letting agent fees on tenants.
The party also plans to introduce a national register to improve standards in the private rented sector and a target to upgrade the energy efficiency of private rented properties.

The number of households in private rental in the area has risen from 5,000 in 2001 to 8,500 today, which is almost one in five of the total number in Worthing West.
He said: “ Where previously a private rental might have been seen as a relatively short-term step towards house buying, the difficulties of buying mean families are having to consider it as much longer term necessity.”
