Labour party makes appeal to shoppers

Steyning shoppers were asked to join together on Saturday to call for more money for local NHS services.

This came just as proposed savings of £530 million were announced for Sussex and East Surrey NHS.

Arundel and South Downs Labour party spokespersons Caroline Fife said: “We were taken aback by the level of support and concern for the NHS services.

“The latest reorganisation plan to create a new Coastal Care super-region is another top-down initiative which will cost jobs and take up a huge amount of time to form. Another distraction for the local NHS when they want to deliver effective patient care.

“Hundreds of leaflets were handed out and more than 100 people signed up to the campaign in under two hours. Labour now plans to extend their activities to other high streets in the area.

“We have seen how responsive people are to wanting the government to deliver on its promises and we will do all we can to raise awareness of their mismanagement of our health services.”
