Lack of council framework is ‘not a concern’ to villages

Work is still ongoing to develop a LDF for the Chichester District, which would set stricter boundaries on proposed new builds.

“We see the LDF as an important stage of the planning process and are already working on our own Community Led Plan that will join up with the LDF,” said a spokesperson from Wisborough Green parish council.

“Although Chichester does not have a LDF, the existing Local Plan is still in place until the LDF is finalised and the interim policies that have been put in place have been designed to give protection during this period.

“The parish council is obviously keeping a watching brief and is currently working on its new Community Led Plan which we hope will help to develop a Neighbourhood Plan down the line.”

Additional protection against unwanted development is provided by a statement sent to Chichester district council by the Environment Agency, advising the council to “refuse residential development if it results in a significant increase in the net flow to the sewer network”.

Part of a wider consultation on planning policy that ended on Friday September 23 invited the public to comment on proposals for 12 to 20 new homes a year in the area including Kirdford, Loxwood, and Wisborough Green.

A Chichester district council spokesperson said: “At each stage of the LDF process there will be an opportunity for you to get involved and have your say about the development of the district.
