Ladies' boxing class is a big hit

The boxing club, based at the Hillcrest Centre, has started a ladies only class on Friday evenings.

Coach Graeme Savage said the class had proved popular and he had seen a difference in the way men and women took to the training.

He said: 'I think the girls actually seem to pick it up quicker than the boys. They seem to listen to what they are being told.'

The class is no-contact boxing training but in all other ways it mirrors the training of professional boxers.

Classes started on January 18 but there are still a few places left.

It costs 10 for annual membership and registration, and 3 a session.
