Artist Paul Siggins and his team from The Mosaic Studio worked with the children to create four mosaics representing enjoyment, responsibility, resilience and aspiration.

Carolyn Cumber, school business manager, said: “Every child from reception to year six joined Paul to place some tiles in the mosaics. The older pupils also learned how to cut the tiles.

“The mosaics are now on the wall in our school hall for all pupils, staff and visitors to see. The children are very proud to see their work on display and know which pieces they contributed to.”

Paul, an award-winning mosaic artist based in Essex, ensured many of the children’s own drawings were incorporated into the designs, made from vibrantly-coloured, reflective glass.

More than 600 children were involved in the five-day workshop and the results will stand the test of time, so they are seen by many future generations.

Fiona Siggins, co-founder of The Mosaic Studio, said: “It’s so rewarding to immerse children creatively. There’s no age barrier to the spectacular outcomes even the youngest children can achieve.

“The whole mosaic experience captures their imagination and the pride and ownership they feel when they see the scale of their work revealed, is just wonderful.”
