James Butcher, a Churchill ward councillor, said: “I want to express my gratitude that this project has kept going.

“To get a starting date is so exciting. I can’t wait for it.”

Building a skatepark in Lancing was first proposed in May 2015.

Construction specialists Wheelscape have been chosen to carry out the work, which is funded by Adur and Worthing councils.
