Landfill site threat to top food company

Castle Kitchens intends to build a new state-of-the-art development at their Washington site, but company bosses are fearful that if a nearby sand quarry at Rock Common is turned into a landfill dump, this expansion may not be able to go ahead.

Castle Kitchens specialises in supplying allergy free and prepared meals and a planning application to build a new timber-framed factory powered by a sustainable energy roof was accepted last December.

However, the unique requirements of the business means it needs to have control over the quality of its water, air and drainage in order to maintain a high level of service.
