‘Landmark’ Littlehampton housing site edges closer

THE final sale of land which will be redeveloped into the North Littlehampton estate has, this week, been completed.

International property consultant CBRE, working alongside Burton Property on behalf of Greencore Group Plc has completed the sale of 220 acres in Littlehampton for the development – one of the biggest to be built in the town in decades.

Known as Hampton Park, the site has been acquired by Persimmon Homes.

The area currently accommodates almost 500,000 square metres of glasshouses and numerous other commercial units. However, once works begins, these will be replaced with more than 1,200 new properties, 20 per cent of which will be affordable houses, together with more than of 13,000 square metres of retail, commercial, community and leisure spaces.

There will also be major highway upgrades including the construction of the southerly part of the Lyminster bypass.

Mark Budden, of CBRE, said: “There has been much local support for this landmark site which will bring essential new road infrastructure and inward investment to the town. The vision for the scheme was provided by Burton Property and Greencore Group Plc whose tenacity and skill enabled the scheme to become a reality.”

Persimmon will shortly submit a reserve matters application to Arun District Council for the first phase of the development.
