Large snake rescued from Bognor Regis flat fire

A large snake has lived to slither for another day after being rescued from a flat fire in Bognor Regis.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said they were called to Argyle Court in Argyle Road at just after midnight to a fire in a second floor flat. Three fire engines were sent to the scene, and all residents were accounted for - but firefighters had to save the large reptile. Two breathing apparatus, a high-pressure hose reel, a covering jet and thermal imaging cameras were used to douse the flames, and a ventilation fan cleared the smoke-logged flat. According to the fire service, there was five square metres of damage, and crews left the scene at 1.30pm today (March 3).
