Last chance to ‘go ape’ today for Hailsham youth

TODAY (March 25) is the last day for young people aged 13 to 17 in Hailsham to book their tickets dor a trip organised by the Square Youth Cafe to Bedgebury Forest in Goudhurst on April 9.

Go Ape is an award-winning forest adventure course of rope bridges, tree-top high wires, Tarzan swings and zip slides aimed at getting the adrenalin flowing and above all, getting people out of their comfort zones.

The Square Youth Café, owned and managed by Hailsham Town Council, offers young people the chance to take part in a diverse range of recreational activities and outings throughout the year, including swimming, ten-pin bowling and dry-slope skiing, as well as a trip to Thorpe Park which is scheduled for later this year.

Recent outings that have taken place include an ice skating disco in Guildford, go-karting at Trax Leisure in Eastbourne and a trip to Revolution Skate Park in Broadstairs, where young people endured four hours of fun with their skateboards, scooters and roller blades.

Andy Joyes, youth project co-ordinator, said: “The Square Youth Café’s programme of organised outings gives young people an opportunity to not only have fun and make new friends, but in some cases learn useful team-building skills and an appreciation for maintaining an active lifestyle.

“I know that those who attend the outings organised by ‘The Square’ enjoy them tremendously and the events themselves are keenly anticipated. All outings are attended by staff members to ensure their safety and well-being at all times.”

The cost of tickets for the Go Ape! at Bedgebury outing is £15, which includes travel and venue entrance. To book a place, contact Andy Joyes on (01323) 841702, or email
