The first phase of a consultation into a community governance review of the town closes on March 31.

The review is considering all options for future governance of the town, including the possibility of setting up an area committee of the district council or new town or parish councils.

The review, which is being overseen by a steering group of seven councillors, will also examine the role existing institutions could play in governing Bexhill.

Following completion of the first stage, a series of draft proposals will be published which will be subject to further consultation later in the year before a final decision is taken by full council in December.

Cllr Martin Kenward, district council deputy leader and cabinet member for Bexhill affairs said: “Details of the responses so far are available to view on our website and it is important that as many people as possible share their views during the process.

“Even if you are happy with the current governance, I would urge you to take a few minutes to tell us what you think.”
