The walk takes place at midnight on May 14 and is open to women aged 16 or over.

Walkers can choose a four or 10 mile challenge starting at the Sovereign Centre in Eastbourne and taking in Sovereign Harbour and the seafront in the moonlight.

With more than 600 people signed up so far, participants and organisers are busy putting the final touches to preparations.

Event organiser Kerry O’Neill said, “Our walkers will get through 230 litres of water, 2,000 rashers of bacon and 1,000 chocolate bars on the night, so we are busy making sure everything is ready.

“We have had great support already from the local community; ladies signing up to walk, volunteers offering a few hours on the night and local businesses donating some fantastic prizes.

“This year’s Night to Remember is looking set to be another fantastic night of fun and fundraising, but we need more people to join us in raising vital funds for the hospice.”

The charity says as much money as possible needs to be raised to help care for children with life-limiting conditions.

It costs more than £3.5 million every year to provide all the care services, both at the hospice and out in the community, and the charity receives less than seven per cent of this from central government.

Kerry added, “By signing up and asking for sponsorship every single walker can make a real difference to life-limited children and their families in East Sussex.”
