Last minute entries to Bognor flying competition welcomed

There is still time to take a dip for charity and enter the International Bognor Birdman competition.

Saturday, October 1 will see the birdmen take an autumn amble off the town’s pier.

Following the event’s cancellation due to bad weather in July, organisers decided to stage a Kingfisher only event.

Committee chairman Barry Jones said: “This is an ideal opportunity for any organisation to obtain sponsorship for any charity. Entrants are asked to provide DVDs for music to be played whilst they perform a little jig before their flight.

“It is hoped if we get 20 entries or more we could make Bognor Birdman approach a £100,000 charity day and a record for Bognor Birdman.”

The flyers will take off from 1.15pm-3.15pm at high tide.

There are still vacancies for performers and last minute entries will be welcomed at a discounted rate. For more information visit www.birdman.org.uk.

There will also be a varied entertainment programme.

If for any reason the event has to be called off, it will take place half an hour later on Sunday, October 2.

For full details and a preview see The Bognor Regis Observer on Thursday, September 29.
