Lawn mower race event future in doubt

ONE of West Sussex's whackiest and famous events is under threat. The future of The Wisborough Green 12 Hour Lawn Mower Race, hangs in the balance after Chichester College Brinsbury Campus announced that they are no longer able to host the race.

"It's a very sad day for The British Lawn Mower Racing Association" said Mark Constanduros, chairman of the BLMRA "but we understand Brinsbury is entering a new era and has plans for the land, and cannot provide us with a field".

The Wisborough Green 12 Hour Lawn Mower Race has been held on Brinsbury land for 20 years and raised tens of thousands of pounds over those years for the students with special needs at Brinsbury and many local charities.
