Le Serve School of Ballet and Theatre Dance held a prize-giving ceremony at Lancing Parish Hall last Saturday and some of the students performed prior to the presentations.

Congratulations were given to all students on their achievements throughout the year. Francesca Hayward received a special mention, having been made a first soloist of the Royal Ballet Company at Covent Garden after beginning her ballet training at the school at the age of three.

The yearly examinations were taken over two days in July, under the auspices of the National Association of Teachers of Dancing, for which principal Valerie Le Serve is an examiner and head of ballet.

She said: “One hundred per cent success was achieved in examinations taken in ballet, modern stage and jazz, tap, contemporary and street dance at the studio, in Tarring Road, Worthing.

“With a wide age range from tinies to adults and with most pupils gaining a distinction, it was congratulations all round at the prize-giving.”

Major award winners were Lois Capel, Tanya Courtnadge, Bethany Drew, Lisa Grice, Anya Khan, Annie Kingshott, Elliott Kingshott, Josie Pilcher, Harriet Pilcher, Megan Taylor, Phoebe Tyler and Rosie Tyler.

The proceeds of the raffle were donated to Rainbow Trust.
